Instructions

After watching our shared reading video of "The Gingerbread Man" book, prompt your child with questions about the book :

What happened to the Gingerbread Man?
-
Do you think he enjoyed getting baked?
-
Did the fox help him?
-

Ask your child if they are ready to dance like a Gingerbread Man!

Get your child to follow the action
Instructions
Prior to conducting this activity with your child, do ensure that you access the activity templates given above under Reading resource 1 and 2.
Depending on which difficulty level you deem fit for your child, print out the activity sentence template and the paste here! template to go alongside.
1. Guide your child in reading the sentences given.
2. If your child is attempting Level 1 of the activity sheet, guide them in using
the reverse images provided above the words that are slightly more challenging.
3. Once your child is able to read out and repeat the sentences, get them to cut
out the sentences following the dotted lines provided.
4. Next, get them to recall the story "The Gingerbread Man".
5. Your child will then have to sequence the sentences based on the storyline of
the book.
6. If your child has difficulty recalling what happened in the book, you can refer
them to the shared reading video provided at the top of the page as a refresher.
7. Once your child has completed sequencing the sentences, get them to paste
the sentences onto the Paste Here! template.
8. Get your child to read through the sentences once more to see if the story
flows correctly.
Note: You can begin from Level 1 and slowly challenge your child up to level 3

In order to reinforce your child's learning and understanding of the sentences from the main activity, the closure is a simple activity where they will pick one of the sentences and draw it out in the template given.
Scaffold your child's learning by asking them to describe and explain more about their drawing and how it is a representation of their chosen sentence.
